I listed a Dino Flintstone push button puppet (came with the attic buy) a couple of weeks ago for $6.99….it didn’t sell. I decided the other day, I’ll relist it with a lower price and see what happens. Well, it sold for almost 11 bucks plus 3.95 for shipping. So, about $15, that’s not to shabby considering I was going to throw it in a box for the yard sale of unEbayable stuff. I made up unEbayable.. So, I’ve tried it with other items that didn’t sell and they’ve all sold for more than the original asking price….pretty cool. I also listed some of the gold jewelry that I’ve picked up really cheap…I invested about $60 in all and it sold for $350. Gold is really good to sell right now. It’s somewhere around $980 an ounce. I sold 6 rings and one tiny necklace that, in all, weighed about 26 grams. I bought a small jewelry scale on Ebay for $13, and it works great. I bought it knowing that I would be selling this stuff.
So, there’s been some flipping still going on, I know I havent updated for a minute and thought I’d get on here and share a couple of flips. The kids summer vacation is coming to an end and we’re trying to get as much fun in as possible…after that I’ll be able to keep up more with this. BTW, I did have a couple of jerks request partial refunds on items for super dumb reasons, that’s another story in itself…So, I am now adding AS-IS to all my auctions to protect myself from people like that…When using Paypal, you can open a case to get compensated for different reasons. Not as described is one and you have to prove that you described it right…Not having the item in front of you makes it hard to take a pic and prove your case. I also get a delivery confirmation on everything I sell, otherwise people say they didn’t receive the item…without the confirmation, (and someone opens a case with Paypal) you have to give the money back AND they keep the item. With it, just put in the number and case is closed..Most people don’t but alot of people will try to rip you off!!! I’ve been ripped and have been learning the ways of protecting myself and thought I would share a couple hints to maybe help protect someone else. I know I talk about Ebay alot in my blogs, but that’s my main way right now of flipping. I am updating the meter tonight and still have payments coming in so I will update again soon!!! thejunkflipper is Ebay ID.
Well, I’m now over $1000 within a couple of weeks. I am waiting for payments to come in and people to stop by for some of the bigger junk I’ve flipped. One item being picked up is an old Koken barber chair that I picked up on a house cleanout. I listed it about 2 months ago on Ebay with a starting bid of $10. It didn’t sell and a day or two after it went off, a guy wrote and said he’d seen that it didn’t sell and said he’s coming to Ohio from New York on August 3rd. and asked if I would hold it that long. I said sure and he said he’d pay $30 for it if I held it for him. Normally in nice shape these go for 500 to 1000 dollars. Mine had a ripped seat and was sitting in a damp basement which means any metal was starting to rust. So, it will need some cleaning up. The guy owns a barber shop and wants to fix it up and use it as a waiting chair. Pretty good idea. So, rather than throwing it out when it didn’t sell it was worth $30 to hold onto it for the guy , throw a tarp over it and set it behind the shed.
I’m still listing stuff on Ebay (not as much as I’d like to have listed), and craigslist and I will update the meter when I have all the money rounded up from everyone. Should be by this weekend. I’ve had a pretty busy week and not much time to make money by flipping items….I do have my hands in the pot on a few good deals that may make pretty good money happen. Now that I have more to spend I can buy bigger items, I will update you on them soon.
I found a box at a yard sale the other day. In it was odds and ends of older toys. For a dollar, I thought why not, even if nothing sells, I’m out a buck. Looking through it when I got home I found these 1975 Monster Heads made by Universal. These were given as a prize in boxes of Post Cereal. I instantly had old memories of tearing open the box to get it out before my brother did.
I listed these on Ebay and got $36.99 out of them. Pretty cool. I will be on the lookout for them from now on although they must be pretty rare, that’s the first time I’ve seen them. BTW, the “free” JBL Speaker sold for like $227 and my headless Lost in Space Robot sold for $168.50. So, once I’m paid for everything I will update the meter.
I got a great deal on a Vintage JBL PA speaker cabinet. I got a set of Yamahas yesterday and took them to a friend of mine today. He offered me a nice JBL Model SR4732 cabinet with the original speakers for the pair. I say nice because it’s old and you can’t go wrong with JBL’s. Granite they were cracked and had holes there are still alot of useable parts. Or whoever buys them can have them reconed. (speakers fixed). I know this is a good speaker to sell because I had the match to it about a year ago and sold it on Ebay for over $330. My band broke up and I ended up with one….kinda like a divorce. We are still friends and trust me, I told him that I didn’t have anything in the Yamahas and wasn’t pressed on what I got out of them. The JBL was his offer. I was not complaining. So the nice thing about this is, whatever it goes off for will be profit and I’m hoping a good one. Maybe it won’t sell at all….I don’t know. I do know my wife loves that there’s a giant speaker in the dining room to glare at while she eats…I’m sure she can’t wait for it to go away…if you want to see where it goes, here’s the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130322004676
Cool…auctions are finally ending and it’s so fun to watch people battle in the last minute. My pez dispensers which (thank goodness) I happened to throw in one of the boxes just went off. Remember I paid $125 for all of the boxes. The pez ‘s alone sold for $202.46. I threw them in the box because I remembered that pez is how ebay got started. If I remember right, the guy started it to find a certain pez dispenser for his wife………… I just googled that so I don’t look like a goof. It’s just a myth started by a public relations guy to interest the media…I knew I heard it though. Anyways, either way I made a complete killing on them. They sold so well because they were vintage with “no feet”. Of course the character determines which ones are rarer than others.
Another cool item that ended right after that (which is from the same boxes) was a old Cast Iron Hubley #7 car. It sold for over $50. I wouldn’t have thought it was possible. So, with them 2 items alone, I doubled my money. Maybe it’s luck that I came across such a great opportunity to go search the attic before anyone else..IDK but it was perfect timing for my experiment.
I found another good flipper today. I came across a guy that was selling 2 gold rings for 30 bucks. I swear he wasn’t a crackhead… I was going to offer 50 and know that I was still going to make a good profit. Then he said 30….uhhhh OK. The pawn shop gives $10 per gram of gold and sell for at least triple that. My 30 dollars bought 9 grams. I will eventually put them with other gold that I find in deals on Ebay and sell as scrap. People buy the gold as scrap to melt it down and make other gold things.
So, it was a good flippin’ day. I made money from money that was reinvested from my first sale. And I bought something to flip and know that I will make money on. My Ebay User Id is thejunkflipper if you want to check out my auctions. Ok, off to sleep!
